Working on the Mystery BOM

news from my studio

Preparations for the Bali Blooms Mystery BOM are in full swing.  I am creating more graphs and videos for this little quilting adventure and have recorded how to finish the Bali Blooms X.  I use my X Block to demonstrate the technique without revealing any of the mystery blocks.

Check out a shorter snip of the Quilt Snacks video from last Wednesday below to see my top-stitching tips and tricks.

This video is a great resource for everyone - not just for Mystery participants.

This video along with several others is also uploaded to my YouTube channel Southwind Quilts.

I think you will like the Bali Blooms Mystery BOM, as it will provide a quilting adventure with a little mystery to look forward to each month.
You can find more information on the Bali Blooms Mystery Block of the Month below!

I have also been working on some more quilt patterns  Maybe you can guess what the patterns are about.

Let's keep connected online, on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
Lets quilt together!

Happy Quilting,

I designed the Quilt Along so we can work on a different part of the quilt every day.  I have allowed time for everyone to catch up before I post the next step.   Best of all you can use your scraps .   The majority of the pieces needed are 2-1/2" squares, which you may have already cut or you can easily cut from pre-cuts;  strips, charms, and even 10" squares. Click here for your List of Materials and Supplies: I will post the cutting instructions tomorrow (19 Mar 2020) at 8:00am EST  Piecing and sewing instructions for each day will be on my blog at 8:00am EST, starting Monday, March 23 and every morning thereafter until completion.   Join me on Facebook live 10:00am EST tomorrow to give you a short introduction, talk about fabric and supp

Fish Tail Challenge

? GOT SCRAPS?? - I know you do, so here is my Summer Quilt Challenge for you! Use up some of your colorful scraps: 3-1/2", 2-1/2, and 2" squares to make a Fish Tail Quilt. Here are some images to get you inspired and started. I will post the approximate number of squares needed for a 30" x 30" and 30" x 40" quilt in the comments.- so who wants to play? Check below for the recommended number and sizes for the quilt. Challenge:   Come up with an original way to let your fish swim .  The design is basic and works well in a mock-up so you can plan your colors. Plan on using these Scraps for a 30" x 30" or 30" x 40" quilt: background squares 100 - 3-1/2” squares 100 - 2” squares, folded in half to make folded triangles to form the fish body. colorful scrappy squares 50 - 3-1/2” squares for the fish body 50 - 2-1/2” squares for the tail
